Fred is a Senior Instructor who has been instructing courses at Shockproof for more than 16 years. He is an accomplished facilitator and trainer with over 35 years of experience in the financial services arena. He is recognized for creating stimulating and interactive learning environments, encouraging participation and individual contributions, and delivering clear, concise information that promotes high retention levels.
Fred has recently facilitated courses across the United States and internationally on topics including accounting, finance, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, tax return analysis, commercial real estate financing, commercial construction analysis, municipality and non-profit financing, medical facilities and hospital financing, negotiation skills, Growing Branch Profitability, and Executive Suite Banking Simulation. Additionally, Fred provides financial consulting services to various companies and banks. He was formerly an adjunct professor of finance in the MBA program at Thomas College and has taught at the Northern New England School of Banking at the University of New Hampshire and the New England School of Banking at Williams College.
Before his consulting work, Fred served as a senior vice president and credit officer for Key Bank in various commercial lending and commercial credit administration roles in the Northeast. During this time, he managed a $300 million commercial loan portfolio with 10% annual growth, maintained high credit quality with delinquency rates below 0.5%, developed and managed the statewide Commercial Credit Department, and created and conducted commercial credit training for all commercial loan officers in Maine.
Fred holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Business from the University of Maine, an associate degree in real estate from Thomas College, and a Graduate Certificate in Banking from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware. He has been training bankers, as well as federal and state bank examiners, for more than 20 years, the past 16 years with Shockproof Training.
